What areas does Green Valley Property Maintenance cover?

We're based in Bethel, Connecticut and work across Fairfield County and everywhere within about 30 miles of us. Bethel, Danbury, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Newtown, Ridgefield, Redding and Wilton are our regular routes, and we cover the towns in between. If you're somewhere we haven't listed, call and ask — we'll tell you straight whether we can get to you.

What are your hours?

We're on the job from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Saturday. Snow and storm work is the exception: when a storm is running, we plow and clear outside those hours, because a driveway that gets cleared at noon the next day is no use to anybody. Call (203) 456-6338 any working day.

What services do you offer?

Landscaping and lawn care, tree services, masonry, excavation, patios and walkways, and snow plowing and removal — residential and commercial. Between those we can take a property from clearing and grading through to a finished patio and a weekly mowing schedule. If a job isn't something we do well, we'll say so rather than waste your time.

How much does a job cost?

It depends on the size of the property, what's already there, how much has to come out before anything goes in, and whether it's a one-off project or a recurring schedule. That's why every job starts with a free, no-obligation estimate — we walk the property, look at the actual conditions, and price it in writing before anything begins. No surprise charges at the end.

Do you offer any discounts or referral rewards?

Yes. Refer someone to us and, once they hire us, you get a $100 gift card. There's no cap on how many you can earn — several of our regular customers have sent us their whole street. Just make sure they mention your name when they call.

Are you licensed and insured?

Green Valley Property Maintenance LLC is a registered Connecticut business and carries insurance. We're happy to provide a certificate of insurance for property managers, HOAs and commercial clients who need one on file before work starts — just tell us who it needs to be addressed to.

Do you work with commercial properties as well as homes?

Accepted Answer

Both. Roughly half of what we do is commercial — grounds contracts for condo and multi-family properties, plazas and office lots along Federal Road and Route 7, and the snow contracts that go with them. Commercial work runs off a written scope and a fixed schedule, and lots get cleared before opening rather than during the working day.

How soon can you start, and how far ahead should I book?

Estimates are usually within the week. For mowing and maintenance we can normally add you to a route quickly. Hardscape and masonry projects run on a build calendar and are best booked several weeks out, especially in spring and autumn — and anything that needs excavation should be booked before the ground freezes. Snow contracts should be in place by late autumn; we can't guarantee a slot once a storm is forecast.

Why do patios and walls fail, and how do you stop it?

Accepted Answer

Almost always the base, not the surface. Pavers that sink or tilt and walls that bulge were built on too little compacted stone, or without drainage behind them, and Connecticut's freeze-thaw cycle finds that every winter. We excavate to full depth, compact the base in lifts, drain behind anything retaining soil, and set footings below the frost line. It's the part you never see and the only part that decides whether it lasts.

My yard floods or stays soggy — is that a landscaping problem?

Accepted Answer

Usually it's a grading problem wearing a landscaping costume. Water is being sent toward the house or held in a low spot instead of taken away, and no amount of planting or topsoil fixes that. We look at where the water actually goes during a storm, then regrade, add a French drain, drywell or catch basin, and reseed. Get that right first and everything built on top of it lasts far longer.

How does snow plowing work — do I have to call you?

Accepted Answer

No. Seasonal contracts run on a trigger depth agreed before the season, so once the snow reaches it we come out without being called, and we come back through a long storm rather than waiting for it to finish. Walks, entries and steps are cleared by hand and treated, because that's where people actually slip. We also take per-storm work where a seasonal contract doesn't suit.

Question 12

Do you haul away brush, stumps and debris?

Accepted Answer

Yes — it all leaves the property. Limbs, brush, chips, stumps, spoil from excavation and old material out of a patio or wall are taken away as part of the job, not stacked at the back of the lot. If you'd rather keep the wood chips or the firewood, tell us and we'll leave them where you want them.
